Lurgan-based company, Kingdom Healthcare, a provider of domiciliary care services in Northern Ireland has held an event in Newry as part of the inaugural Kingdom Healthcare Service Excellence in Domiciliary Care Awards.

The second of two regional award ceremonies took place 18 October in The Mourne Country Hotel, in Newry. The awards recognise and reward service excellence from its Domiciliary Care Assistants operating in the Southern division, including Lurgan, Portadown, Crossmaglen, Tandragee, Newry and Craigavon. Within this community, Kingdom Healthcare extends its invaluable services to over 150 service users, making a significant impact on their lives.

Speaking about the decision to create the awards, General Manager, Niamh Conaty commented: “At Kingdom Healthcare, we firmly believe that our strength lies in our people and these awards have been established to recognise and honour the outstanding efforts of our incredible team members in upholding the highest standards of service and care.

“It is their commitment, loyalty and hard work that make us who we are, and the awards give us the platform and opportunity to express our gratitude for the contribution that each and every team member makes to Kingdom Healthcare and to the lives of our service users.”

The ceremony saw awards and a number of highly commended accolades distributed across five different categories.

The first award out of the five categories was The Compassionate Caregiver Award. This award recognises a caregiver who has shown exceptional compassion, empathy, and dedication in providing homecare services and was won by Elizabeth McAlinden from Derrytrasna with Emma English, Linda McAleavey, Megan Marshall, Sinead Barry and Baiba Plata all being recognised as highly commended.

The Excellence in Complex Care Award was presented to Asta Kasauskaite and Galina Aleksandrovic from Portadown, for excelling in managing and coordinating care for patients with complex medical conditions.

Crossmaglen native, Amy Donaghy received The Homecare Hero Award in recognition of her unwavering dedication, exceptional caregiving skills, and profound compassion.

The Lifetime Achievement in Homecare Award was presented to Michael Patterson from Lurgan. This award honours Michael for having a long and distinguished career in the homecare industry and making a significant contribution to the lives of services users with Kingdom Healthcare. The highly commended carers in this category were, Elizabeth McAlinden and Linda Martin.

The final award was the Outstanding Patient Support Award, which was presented to Tracey Murtagh from Whitecross, in acknowledgement of her exceptional support to patients and their families.

Further commenting on the Kingdom Healthcare Service Excellence in Domiciliary Care Awards, Niamh Conaty, General Manager of Kingdom Healthcare, said: “We are truly honoured to present these awards to our Domiciliary Care staff in recognition of the fantastic care that they deliver in the local community.
