Federal Government on Wednesday presented six Toyota Camry saloon cars to the 2024 Civil Service Week Public Service Excellence Award recipients.

The beneficiaries of the Toyota Camry cars are Ndubuisi Barry, director, Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation; Akoji Perpetual Dumebi, deputy director, Labour and Employment; Anamah Benjamin Ugochukwu, deputy director, Art, Culture and Creative Economy; Olanrewaju Adenike Omolara, chief executive officer, Police Affairs; Geoffrey Wetjwak Jwal, deputy director, Industry, Trade and Investment and Chinwe Chikelu Ilori, assistant director, Marine and Blue Economy.

According to a statement by Director of Communications, Mohammed Ahmed, this was done at a ceremony held at the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF).

The awardees were recognised for their exceptional performance in delivering their assigned duties and tasks.

Speaking at the event, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoSF), Folasade Yemi-Esan, stated: “We are here to deliver on the promise that was made, and I believe that when you say something, you back it up with a corresponding action, because reality, at all times, vindicates.”

She urged civil servants to shun gratification in whatever guise and embrace hard work, adding that “there will always be a reward for good performance.”

She said the recognition is part of measures to create role models, promote a culture that supports the attainment of the goals and objectives of Ministries, extra-Ministerial Departments and Agencies (MDAs), and improve staff productivity and quality of work.

This aligns with the sixth pillar of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025 (FCSSIP-25), which aims to enhance the value proposition of employees for accelerated national development.

The Permanent Secretary, Service Policies and Strategies Office, Deborah Odoh, thanked the HoSF for her goodwill and leadership in enabling the acquisition of the consolation prizes for the distinguished civil servants.

She pledged the office’s commitment to continuous improvement and making the HoSF proud.

The representative of the awardees, Ugochukwu, deputy director in the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, thanked the Head of Service for the gesture and pledged their unalloyed loyalty to the Government and the Civil Service, as well as continuous hard work.

The presentation ceremony was attended by the HoSF-Designate, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, permanent secretaries and other dignitaries from the OHCSF.
