Memorial Hospital received 32 breakthrough awards at the 2025 annual Custom Learning Systems HealthCare Service Excellence Conference held at the Galveston Island Convention Center in Galveston, Texas.
The hospital also achieved a 5-star rating with the Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services (CMS) for the sixth year in a row and with the National Rural Rating System for the third year in a row, according to a community announcement.
The awards are based on patient experience survey scores from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems, Emergency Department Consumer Assessment of Providers and Systems and Clinician and Group Consumer Assessment of Providers Systems. These surveys are sent to patients after they receive care.
Hospital excels in multiple categories
Memorial Hospital received 13 awards of excellence in the HCAHPS section for achieving survey scores higher than the national averages in areas such as Hospital Environment-Quiet, Communication about Medicines, Communication with nurses, Response of Hospital Staff, Care Coordination, Hospital Environment – Clean, Rate Hospital (9-10), Recommend the Hospital, and Communication with Doctors.
In the ED CAHPS section, the hospital received seven awards of excellence for achieving scores higher than the national averages in areas such as Getting Timely Care, Rate ER Care, Recommend the ER, Doctors and Nurses Communication, Communication about Medications, Communication about Follow-Up and Additional Rating Question.
Memorial Medical Clinics received 12 awards in the CG CAHPS section for Access Overall, Care Provider Overall, Overall Assessment Overall, Access to Care 3 Month, Care Coordination, Access Overall, Care Provider Overall, Physician Communication Quality and Office Staff Quality.
